I purchased this to replace a "name brand" system that the previous homeowners took with them. Believe me, this sounds much better than what was there previously at a fraction of the price. I did a lot of research and found that HTD was the only company selling such a system for self installation. The advanced system sounds very good, but don't expect audiophile results from it. In my opinion, this type of sound system is not meant for critical listening. I also purchased the HD R80s, HD W80s, HD R65s, and the new in wall sub. So far I am very happy with my purchase [...] If you have any questions, Mike is just a phone call away and will explain everything very clearly. Do yourself a favor and purchase the dual banana plugs to connect your speakers to the amp.
Product arrived on time and in good condition. Mike at customer service was very helpful.
Comments about HTD Advanced Whole-house Audio System Package:
I built my house three years ago wired and speakers for 10 zones. No whole house audio manufactures offered what HTD does for less than $5K. They helped me properly combine zones to what made since (master bath with key pad, master bed with slide control). Saved me a ton of money and there system is top notch. I do not know how I went without whole house audio for this long. The sourcing at the key pad is the coolest and the IR works like a charm. The tech support and sales is unmatched anywhere. Sold and sent me everything I needed to complete a prewired system. Look no further for an equal whole house system, you will not find it. I know I spent three years looking for it.

If you plan to place additional speakers in the same zone, be sure to purchase the dual banana clips from the accessories page.

Comments about HTD Advanced Whole-house Audio System Package:
The system went in quickly (as others said, adding the wiring to the house is the only hard part). Items that other reviewers left out that I thought might be helpful to others:
* The controllers can't be read in direct sunlight and are difficult to see some of the text in bright light. It's not a big problem - after you get used to what the controller should say and it's configured, you probably don't need to read the text that often but if possible, think about windows when locating the controllers.
* The system is much more flexible than the manual suggests - it works great as documented but there's some things that are missing. For example, while you can configure which zone each controller "owns" on the controller itself, the "source" that plugs into the controller is determined by the port on the back of the MC2-86 that the CAT-5/6 wire is plugged into. For me, that solved a problem where I had 3 controllers in 1 zone but wanted to have 2 different sources from that zone. Of course that disables having a source in another zone - but in my case that's exactly what I want - I have a zone that will never have any sources.
* Amplifier is HEAVY. I designed my closet for the amp to be on a top shelf - if I were going to do it again, I'd put it down lower (and I'm thankful that I used heavy duty shelving)
* Doorbell can be run with your existing AC or DC doorbell - no need to choose between these chimes and your existing bell (thanks to tech support to confirm this)
* The keypad mounts are about as wide as will fit into a 1 gang box - I count on there being a bit of play in case the box wasn't perfectly up/down. I should have been more careful in mounting the boxes - another solution would have been to use the thiner metal low voltage inserts instead of the thicker plastic boxes. And, you'll want to make sure that you mount these as flush as possible so no light leaks out the sides of the wall plate. (I'll be getting some gaskets to solve my lack of do-it-yourself skills)
And I can't wait until the kids get tired of paging each other throughout the house.
